About the sugarhouse

The Sugar House actively promotes responsible drinking.

Entry to the venue

Persons must present on demand a current form of the following: LUSU Purple Card, LUSU Red Card, NUS Card, Lancaster University Library Card, Lancaster University Alumni Card or Sugar House Membership Card.

Those possessing current forms of the above are classed as members of the Sugar House and as such are allowed to bring with them up to two bona fide guests.

The venue is over 18 only. If asked by members of staff, a valid proof of age must be produced. A current passport, photographic full driver’s licence or approved ‘PASS’ card are accepted. All guests of members must provide age identification. Entry to the venue will be denied if required ID cannot be produced.

Right of admission is reserved. Entry will be denied if you are deemed to be overly intoxicated , if you are behaving in an aggressive or inappropriate manner or if you refuse to participate in our random search policy.

Tickets

Advance tickets are available for some club nights and events. These can be purchased from the LUSU shop, LUSU Central and The Borough, Dalton Square, Lancaster. Where advance tickets guarantee entry before a given time, ticket holders arriving at the venue after this cut off point will be subject to an additional charge on their ticket equal to the value of the difference between the face value of the ticket and the door price. After the cut off point, ticket holders cannot be guaranteed entry and must queue at the front entrance of the venue.

Ticket holders must present a form of member ID and proof of age if required. Guests of members holding tickets must also have a ticket and must provide a form of age ID as described. Tickets are non-refundable at the venue.

Cloakroom

Customers using the cloakroom facilities are responsible for presenting their cloakroom ticket if they wish to retrieve their possessions. Items left in the cloakroom will remain until four weeks after the last week of term. Customers may contact the venue to collect any possessions they have left in the cloakroom. We advise customers to retain their cloakroom tickets if they leave their possessions.

Lost prperty

Items that are misplaced by customers and subsequently found by either staff or customers are logged and kept in the lost property area in the cloakroom. Such items are kept until four weeks after the last week of the term. Customers are advised to contact the venue in the event of possessions being lost.

Competitions

All competitions are free to enter.

Members and their guests are able to enter any of the competitions at the Sugar House. Off duty employees of the Sugar House may take part. The Management Team are ultimately responsible for distributing any prizes. Where an advertised prize becomes unavailable a similar equivalent will be offered.

Where scratch cards are given out with transactions (where applicable), it’s one scratch card per person but customers could win on more than one occasion per night.

Membership

You can become a member of the Sugar House by providing the following:

Full name, current address, contact email and telephone number, date of birth and TWO passport sized photographs.

The membership application will be processed by the venue manager and your Sugar House membership card will be sent to you within two weeks of receipt of your application. Membership card holders will be required to present an accepted form of photographic ID on entry to the venue.

Drinks offers

Where a spirit and mixer is on offer, ‘mixer’ means any of the draught soft drink available at the time. This DOES NOT include fresh fruit juices or energy drinks.
